About Time (2013)

I just finished “About Time” on Netflix, another remarkable film I watched.
“About Time” was directed by the writer of another British movie “Notting Hill.” It comes with the color of his previous films, a less “wow,” “down-to-earth,” “bland” film. If this film’s element “time-travel” is given to some director like “Michael Bay”, it will straightly turn into a lot of car racing, some buildings will be destroyed. Also, the actors will travel around the globe to save “something” or beat villains, using the power of “time-travel.”

Director “Richard Curtis” gives a different approach to the viewers. The actor hasn’t used “time-travel” to save the globe, and he used it to save his landlord’s performance, save his dating (to be honest, Rachel McAdams is super pretty, she has become my goddess right now. Hopefully, Zooey Deschanel hasn’t gotten the role of Marry. I don’t think Zooey wouldn’t deliver the same chemistry as Rachel, according to her performance in “(500) days of summer” and “The happening”), and save the time with his dad.

As the last project of Curtis’ life, this film gives a great lecture to me, and life’s not only about occupation, your ambition. Family and your lovely partner/ girlfriend/ boyfriend are also important. Think! If you can redeem an infinite amount of time to do anything you want, what would you do? Remember, each loved one around you has their clock, and it’s counting down at every second, spend more time with them, say kind words.

I want to end with a quote from the film: “I just try to live everyday as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one, to enjoy it, as if it was the final full day of my extraordinary, ordinary life.”

p.s. About Time reminds me a line from a cantonese song:「如果我有逆轉的超能力」. What if, what if I really get the power of time-traveling to the past, what I would I do? I guess I would probably undo my mistakes and appreciate the time I had with someone during the last few months.
